Foreign Direct Investment in China

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into China has escalated steadily over the last 40 years.  Since 1980, China has seen an enormous increase in FDI.  Starting in approximately 1994, China began to see consistent, sizable investment across many provinces.   China continues to outpace other developing economies in the region.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is the long-term investment contributed by one country into another. China has received substantial amounts of FDI in the past decade due to their growing economy, competitive labor rates and extensive infrastructure. In 2010, China utilized USD 105.7 billion in FDI.
