Gansu Manufacturing & Investment Information

Gansu is located in the northwestern interior of China, bordering Sichuan to the south, Sha’anxi to the east and Inner Mongolia to the north. It’s main industries: petrochemicals, metallurgy, mining, electricity production, food and beverage, and non-ferrous metals, take advantage of its rich mineral resources. Although Gansu suffers from a lack of consistent water resources, its economy continues to grow at a consistent pace.  Despite its recent growth, Gansu is still seen as one of the poorest provinces in the country.  Previous to this growth, Gansu was primarily a tourist location.

Gansu is not a hub for foreign investment. In 2007, the entire province only utilized USD 171 million in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Nevertheless, it has received investment from major brands such as Coca-Cola, Carlsberg, China Grain Group, and the China National Petrol Corporation.
