Labor Costs

Guangdong Employee Wage & Labor Cost Information

The average wage of a direct employee in Guangdong province is approximately RMB 2,729 per month, a dramatic increase from its 2009 average of RMB 1,530 per month. While Guangdong’s minimum wage varies between cities and regions, in 2009 the minimum wage fell between RMB 450 and RMB 780 per month. In 2011 it rose to  RMB 850 and RMB 1,300 per month for full time employees.  Manufacturers and employers within Guangdong can expect increasing wages for years to come.  China’s twelfth five year plan has urged provinces to increase the minimum wage through the year 2015, the end of the plan.  Provinces have been increasing wages since approximately 2009 and Guangdong, a central economic province, will be included in this nationwide plan.  Calculating the exact cost of a direct employee on an hourly basis involves a complex formula composed of a daily base salary, employee benefits, and taxation.
